How much does an Explorer SC2000 mobile satellite system cost?

The cost of the Explorer SC2000 system is $2970 plus applicable taxes, installation & shipping (ONLY If you are outside our service area)

NOTE: We are now offering a .75 Meter system. This model is the SC7500 and is available @ $3570 plus applicable taxes, installation & shipping

What is a SC2000 System?

The Explorer Mobile Satellite System is truly an example of cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship. All major components are custom made from either powder coated aluminum or stainless steel. Sophisticated electronic hardware control DC motors to adjust elevation, azimuth, and skew to automatically lock onto Star StarChoice's satellites, Anik F1R and Anik F2. Each dish is hand assembled and tested by skilled technicians.

Once I place my order, how long will it take to receive my new Explorer SC2000 system?

Supply and Installation time will vary depending on your location and installation requirements. Once you have met our deposit requirements, we can schedule your installation date. We require 50% deposit to commit & hold your system.

Generally 7 - 10 days notice from the receipt of your deposit. However, if you are in a hurry, we will do our best to accommodate your schedule. The average RV or Coach installation will take 4 - 6 hrs which also includes training and orientation.

Where can I buy my own Explorer SC2000 Satellite System?

The Explorer SC2000 is sold ONLY by dealers and cannot by purchased directly from StarChoice. Existing StarChoice or RV Dealers may purchase the SC2000 from NetKingSAT. If you are a dealer and would like more information, email us at SC2000@netkingsat.com

What forms of payment does NetKingSAT accept?

NetKingSAT accepts Certified Bank Drafts upon completion of the installation or Visa, MasterCard & AMEX (USD) as payment options. All credit card transactions are assessed a 2.5% surcharge.

How much does the installation of my satellite SC2000 system cost?

Installation costs will vary based on the complexity of the installation. The average installation is approximately $500.00. Call NetKingSAT @ 1.800.213.9347 for more details.

Do I need to be a StarChoice customer?

The Explorer SC2000 system is available to both new and existing customers. Each system includes a new DSR 205 Satellite receiver, so there is no need to buy any additional equipment. StarChoice customers who have an existing receiver can use it as the primary receiver.

Does my Explorer SC2000 come with a warranty? If so, what does it cover?

Every Explorer SC2000 System comes with a one year parts and labour warranty, as well as one additional year for all system hardware. For more information, please refer to the terms of service in the SC2000 owners manual.

When will the Explorer system be available to the public?

The Explorer SC2000 mobile satellite system is now available. StarChoice customers who purchase a SC2000 system can use there existing Receiver or choose to use the DSR 205 Satellite receiver that is provided with the system.

What is the demand for such a product?

The Explorer SC2000 mobile satellite system provides NetKingSAT customers an exciting new opportunity to take all the great programming of StarChoice with them wherever they go. For StarChoice customers, depending on where you live or travel in Canada, the USA or Mexico , you can enjoy more than 420 audio and video channels, including 19 dedicated sports channels, 22 dedicated High-Definition channels, a selection of more than 1,500 movies every month and a complete lineup up of radio and music channels. For recreational vehicle owners the SC2000 system presents a way to receive crystal-clear digital television anywhere and everywhere they go. We have seen reports and heard testimonials from StarChoice "SnowBirds" demonstrating StarChoice service area includes Mexico and Belize - Central America. This is great news and for those of you that want Canadian NEWS & Content while traveling, StarChoice is the only way to go!

Remember, unlike the "Other Guys" StarChoice does not care if you travel outside of Canada.

What else comes with the system?

Every SC2000 system comes with all required hardware components such as the Dish and roof mount, the inside control unit and a remote control for the OnScreenPrograming function.

Also included are a StarChoice DSR205 receiver and remote control. The system does not include caulking and sealant, tools, and fasteners to secure the system to the roof of the RV however these are provided by our installer during your professional installation.

The DSR205 offers clear digital picture and sound, but at a very compact size. The DSR205 is no bigger than a small box of Chocolates, making it the perfect size for storing in your RV or trailer. One of the best things that come with your system is the ability to see all of the great programming, movies, sports and more from StarChoice. Will the Explorer system work behind trees and buildings?

As long as there is a clear view between the Explorer SC2000 and the satellite in the sky, you will receive the signal. To properly receive signal from the Satellite, the dish requires a clear line of sight. This means that signals can be blocked by trees, buildings, overhangs, or anything that comes between the satellite and the dish. If you're dish has an unobstructed view of the Southern sky you should have no problem picking up the StarChoice signals.

Does the Explorer system work anywhere in Canada & the USA?

Currently, StarChoice uses two satellites to provide extensive coverage to all of Canada and wherever your RV adventures may take you. We have clients who have reported that service is available through out Mexico and northern Central America. Logically, the further south that you travel, the larger the antenna should be (the current antenna size is .60 Meter and a larger antenna , the .75 Meter is now available. This model is the SC7500 and it is designed for the fringe signal areas such as Central America).

The SC2000 automatically seeks out both satellites wherever you are so there's no need to set up and adjust your dish yourself. Simply park and level your vehicle and adjust the dish through your remote.

How long does the Explorer system take to set up to watch StarChoice programming?

From start to finish it takes only about three minutes to get your Satellite system up and running. In less time than it takes to cook a bag of microwave popcorn, you can be watching your favorite show in your RV!

Is it easy to stow and reconnect the SC2000 system when one moves from one location to another?

The Explorer SC2000 system is completely motorized. Once you reach your destination simply turn on your Explorer system and the dish will adjust itself while you sit in the comfort of your vehicle.

How difficult is it to set up the dish to receive programming?

Using the easy to use on screen prompts and your remote, anyone can set up the SC2000 dish in a matter of minutes.

Would the Explorer SC2000 fit on a small trailer?

YES, the Explorer can be mounted on any mobile platform that allows space for dish rotation 53'' radius and a clear line of sight view to the satellite. For more information concerning mounting a SC2000 system on a smaller trailer contact NetKingSAT @ 1.800.213.9347.

Can Explorer be used in a mobile environment like an RV or bus?

The SC2000 system was designed with RV and mobile users in mind. As long as the system is used in a stationary environment you should have no trouble receiving all your favorite StarChoice programming.

What types of programming options are available for the SC2000 system?

With the SC2000 system there are no limits to the programming choices you can choose from. Whether you are at home or on the go, you can choose the programming that best suits your needs. See it all with the Ultimate Choice Plus bundle or specialize your own programming package with your favorite channels. There are loads of options for StarChoice English and French bilingual customers as well. For our current StarChoice customers, there is no need to pick a new programming package; you'll receive the same programming in your RV as you do in your living room!

Can you order Pay Per View using the SC2000 system?

Although you cannot order pay per view using your remote with the SC2000 system, ordering a movie or event is as easy as picking up the phone. Simply dial 1 866 STAR-PPV to have your pay per view request sent directly to your dish!

How does the weather affect the dish?

As with any satellite system, a clear line of sight from the dish to the satellite is important. On occasion heavy rain, snow or wind may affect signal reception. However, StarChoice uses state of the art technology coupled with two of Canada's most sophisticated commercial Satellites to ensure that any downtime due incremental weather conditions is at an absolute minimum.

Can anyone install the Explorer System?

We recommend that every customer have their SC2000 system professionally installed. However, self install options are available. For more information about installation options contact NetKingSAT @ 1.800.213.9347.


Can I watch different programs on different televisions at the same time in my RV?

Each SC2000 system comes equipped to use up to two receivers upon installation. Additional hardware is required to utilize more than two receivers on one Explorer SC2000 unit. More details on advanced installation options can be found in the owners manual of the unit.

Can I use the same receiver with my Explorer SC2000 unit that I use in my home satellite system?

The SC2000 satellite system works perfectly with any satellite ready StarChoice receiver. Older StarChoice receivers will also work with the Explorer SC2000 system, but may require additional hardware to receive the full array of programming. For more details on the installation and proper care of different receivers, please refer to the Explorer SC2000 owners manual.

Are there any additional monthly costs for programming?

There are no additional costs on your StarChoice account for having an Explorer SC2000 mobile satellite system. You pay for your programming, movie purchases and applicable taxes and fees as you would on a regular StarChoice account.
